Whether it is pouring out lines of code, reseraching in a biomedical lab or putting strokes onto a canvas; they all require the utmost dedication and honing of basic skillsets. I believe with patience and care, as well as a healthy dose of strategic planning one is able to see the results come to fruition.
Coming from a biomedical research background with a propensity for creativity, I have a unique perspective when it comes to problem-solving and data analysis. I strive to use detail-oriented and innovative methods to create software technologies, while continuing to learn and strengthen my skills. Having worked collaboratively and individually, I can comfortably adapt to a multitude of working environments and achieve future goals I set out to complete. I'm excited to deliver more unique solutions and features to different audiences, as well as challenging myself throughout the process.
Aesthete is an application for art lovers, it is designed to showcase artwork in a virtual pixel gallery. Unlike the minialistic look and distracting features of current social media apps, Aesthete ensures the artwork is the main focus. Hence, every piece of artwork is displayed in a fancy baroque frame so that it receives the appreciation it deserves.
This application has a React front-end, connected to a Django API backend using Python. There are 2 types of accounts users can create, artists and visitors. The difference is that artists are allowed to upload their own artworks. Both users can browse through the works of others, leave comments on individual works, search for individual artist's collections, and save them in their directory.
PupPals was created as an application for dog owners to connect with other dog owners in their local area. The idea is that users will decide if they want to match with another user based solely on other users' pup profiles. Afterall dogs have a keener sense than their owners, and if your pup approves you may as well.
This application is a React app, which uses an Express API backend with MongoDB and third-party library Mongoose. It allows users to create an account, which permits them to then create a pup profile, browse through other users' pups to create matches, chat with thwir matches, and update their profile information.
Feels Like... Another Weather Widget represents the objective weather data in an artful way, in hopes of connecting the user's emotions with the weather. The end product was submitted to the OpenWeather Challenge and achieved 2nd place in the competition.
This weather widget is a React app that utilises Node.js, and consumes 2 third-party APIs; the OpenWeather and V&A APIs. The app enables users to save the date and location of their important event 30 days in advance, then reveals an artwork according to the weather forecast on that particular day. The event information is also saved and can be viewed in the back of the artwork.
This is a recreation of the retro Space Invaders game with the theme of flies. It replicates the game mechanics of the original, which involves the player moving side to side while shooting, the invaders moving as a group across the grid, gaining points and losing lives.
In order to improve the UX/UI, mute and pause buttons have been implemented, as well as the ability to save the player's high score. All the in-game graphics were also drawn by me, just to provide a more personal touch.
A 12-week immersive course that was a highly rewarding and challenging experience. Working in this fast-paced environment demanded efficient orgaisation skills, coupled with excellent problem-solving. My passion for learning and researching allowed me to grasp new concepts at a faster pace.
Along with gaining a many technical skills, I collaborated with diverse individuals. Having the opportunity to exchange ideas and see different perspectives was a valuable experience. I also worked independently on projects, improving upon my self-management skills.
Completing the course provided me with a renewed sense of motivation to further my technical skills while gaining more hands-on experience to create more interesting softwares.
While in lockdown, I decided to pivot my career in a more artistic direction. I've never stopped creating illustrations since I first learned how to draw, I take pride in bringing my characters to life by combining Eastern and Western influences.
I took the initiative created a professional art portfolio, and dived head first into 20+ art contests which achieved top places in 50% of them. In particular, I participated in a challenge hosted by Gucci and Draw A Dot, which resulted in being featured in an article by Gucci. I have also had the pleasure of receiving commissions, this involved communicating with clients to fulfil their requests and create personal artworks for them.
It is incredibly satisfying to see every piece of art come to life, and the emotions it evokes in different people.
In order to enhance my laboratory technical skills, as well as gain more biomedical knowledge and experience I opted into this 2-month course. This involved using computational models to analyse a gene within a parasite, and writing scientific reports to state the results of the experiments.
This experience gave me the perfect opportunity to combine my existing knowledge with computer-based techniques. It further established my interests in utilising modern technology to aid research, and the desire to understand how these programs work.
My first step into the scientific research industry was completing a postgraduate research degree at Imperial College, where I completed 2 6-month lab-based projects.
In my first project, Microsoft Office and GraphPad Prism was utilised for project management and tracking multiple ongoing experiments. Weekly lab meetings was the perfect setting to present my findings to the lab team, and I would receive constructive insights for the project. I was also tasked with supervising a new lab member and teaching them the techniques I have learnt.
In my second project, I taught myself the fundamentals of Python programming to analyse metadata, solved coding problems independently, and used tools such as MetaboAnalyst and Microsoft Office. In conjunction, I prepared numerous biological samples while ensuring the equipment was correctly calibrated for accuracy.
Achieving a Merit for my Master's boosted my confidence and enhanced my technical skills. Moreover, it improved on my problem-solving abilities and teamwork, preparing me for a successful research career.

Growing up, it always seemed like I was living inbetween 2 worlds. It became a wish of mine to understand the big differences and the little nuances in different cultures as the world grows increasingly connected. I enjoy travelling around Europe and Asia, experiencing the variety of ways to live through my different senses; from tasting the local cuisine to gazing at the architecture and visitng local art museums. It is as if I am collecting little slices of the place I visited, and I can fondly look back at each experience through the many photos I take.

When it comes to choosing furry companions to share ones adult life with, I have 2 unusually rambunctious yet timid boys by my side. They seem to have an even better grasp of my daily schedule than I do, when it comes to preparing their vegetables every morning as they squeak loudly knowing what is to come. They require a lot more care than what others think they do, and they've really taught me a lot about responsibility and planning ahead to consider the needs of others.

In the end of last year, I rediscovered the joy of reading and thus have increased the quality of my Tube journeys. So far this year I can proudly say that I have read 20 books, averaging 2-4 books with 200+ pages per month. The excitement of immersing myself in fantastical worlds and a compelling plotline leading to an unexpected twist is, excuse the pun, definitely a page turner! I'm hoping to acheive my reading goal of 30 books by the end of this year, and I have recently expanded my horizons into the horror and thriller genres.
